Lifetime Achievement Award:
A Lifetime Achievement Award is being conferred on the well known Economist Dr. Vijay Kelkar, who has held prominent positions in the Central Government including the Planning Commission (1973-77) and Commerce Ministry (1977) as Economic Adviser. He was the Secretary to the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister between 1985 and 1988. In 1994, he was appointed as Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum. He was made Finance Secretary in 1998. Dr. Kelkar recently completed his term as Chairman, Finance Commission, Government of India.
On International Fora, he was Executive Director in the International Monetary Fund (IMF). He was the Director & Coordinator, International Trade Division of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, Geneva, Switzerland, 1991-1994. Dr. Vijay Kelkar has been elected Chairman, Board of the Forum of Federations, Ottawa, Canada, with effect from January 1, 2010.
He is currently the Chairman of National Stock Exchange of India Limited, Mumbai. He was conferred the Padma Vibhushan in January 2011, for his distinguished and exceptional service to the Nation.
The awards will be presented in an award function on December 24th, 2011 at the hands of Chief Guest Dr. Abhay Firodia, Chairman and Managing Director, Force Motors Limited & President, MCCIA in the presence of Pramod Chaudhari, Executive Chairman, Praj Industries Limited.

Praj Industries Limited invites nominations/applications for ‘Maha-Intrapreneur Awards 2011’ , in association with Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SIBM, Pune), Pune, who are the knowledge partners for this initiative. The awards aim at recognizing ‘Intrapreneurs’ or ‘Corporate Entrepreneurs’ in various organizations from across Maharashtra (Pune, Mumbai, Thane, Nashik, Aurangabad, Nagpur, Jalgaon , Kolhapur, Ahmednagar)
Purpose
Praj thought of recognizing the spirit of enterprise through Intrapreneurship. Praj Maha-Intrapreneur Award is an appreciation and acknowledge of the efforts of the Intrapreneur in the organization.
Who is Intraprenuer?
- The term ‘Intrapreneur’ was coined almost two decades ago. However, it has not received the same recognition as ‘entrepreneur’.
- Intrapreneurs are those managers who are result-oriented, ambitious, rational, competitive, with high risk taking ability and inquisitive mind. They are challenged by innovation and at the same time have an in-depth understanding of their organization. Intrapreneurs are comfortable with change, have clarity of direction, thoroughness, a participative management style and an understanding that they needs to work with others to achieve their goals.
- Entrepreneurship within existing organizations, can be called as ‘Corporate Entrepreneurship’ or ‘intrapreneurship’.
- An ‘Intrapreneur’ is an individual charged with pushing through innovations within an organization, in an entrepreneurial fashion.
- ‘Intrapreneurship’ is an entrepreneurial way of thinking, acting and feeling of a work community. Intrapreneurs are students of circumstances and look for ways to increase business or improve the business.. They seek alternatives and work towards innovation which is an integral part of Intrapreneurship. They have a stake in shaping the organization and know how to present it to customers with confidence, pride and assurance. Intrapreneurs have the motivation and execution skills to make “the big idea” come true, thereby fostering transformation and growth within the organization they are associated with.
